Manufacturing Without Chip Removal
These processes produce a part by shaping material or forming it in a mould rather than removing chips with a cutting tool. Selection depends on the material, geometry, tolerances and production quantity.

Casting and moulding
Casting fills a mould cavity with liquid metal, which then solidifies. Plastic injection moulding injects polymer melt into a mould, cools it and ejects the part. Mould design, filling and cooling conditions determine part quality.
Forming
Forging, rolling, extrusion, drawing and sheet bending change material geometry by applying force. Processing may be hot or cold, depending on formability and the required properties.
Powder metallurgy
Parts can be produced by shaping and sintering metal powders. Powder characteristics, compaction and sintering conditions influence density, dimensions and mechanical properties.
Process selection and finishing
Parts produced without chip removal may still require machining to meet final dimensions, surface or fit requirements. Tooling cost, waste, cycle time and production quantity are assessed together.
