Plastic Mould Steels

Technical data and selection criteria for steels used in plastic injection moulds.

Plastic Mould Steels

Choosing a mould steel

Selection depends on the plastic’s hardness and corrosiveness, the required surface finish and the process. Consider corrosion resistance, wear resistance, polishability, machinability, dimensional stability, electrical discharge machining, thermal conductivity, nitriding and surface hardening, texturing, and weldability.
